We were fortunate enough to be the first research organisation to investigate this historical Theatre. There were many rumours about the paranormal activities and who possibly haunted it. To help us with such information, Kerrie Wearing, a well known Medium and founder of The Australian College of Mediumship accompanied us with our investigations.

The building was built in the second half of the 19th Century and has large open areas including a stage and other smaller rooms.

Dom and Darren B. began with a general assessment noting any normal EMF readings and/or fluctuations caused by power boards, wiring etc.

Kerrie felt that we should begin upstairs in one of the rooms. As we entered the room, Kerrie became aware of a male entity in a naval uniform by the name of Jack, who passed on possibly from TB in the 1930's. Kerrie said that if we are to get any poltergeist activity, Jack would be the responsible one.

We then ventured downstairs and entered the stage area. As we did, Kerrie said that she could sense the activities of a farm on a psychic level. Just then we heard a thud coming from under our feet. We all looked at each other … and then the floor under our feet shuddered by a second, more powerful bang as if someone was attempting to "belt" the subfloor. Quickly we scrambled to investigate the source, but there was none. Dom and Darren B. arrived after their assessment - they were nowhere near the stage area at the time of the sound. In fact they had just finished inspecting a light effect in Darren B's video camera produced by a neon light.

In the lower level, Kerrie picked up on an inactive gentleman who was unaware of the physical world.

The subfloor area, where some of the original sandstone foundations remained, produced the energies of a gentleman who committed suicide around the 1830's.
Then, further up in the open arena Kerrie was aware of a husband and wife who seemed unaware of each other. At the time, Kerrie felt that they weren't active.

The group decided that we would begin the vigil upstairs. As we made our way, Kellie's video camera unexpectedly switched itself off and would not function during the course of our investigation. It is worth mentioning that the camera became fully operational the following day.

Before we began our vigil, Dom and I secured three voice recorders and an infrared motion detector. Reviewing the recordings the next day, I wasn't surprised to hear humps and someone tampering with the voice recorder.

All lights were switched off. Once upstairs Laszlo secured a fixed video camera facing the room where we sat. I occasionally operated mine on night mode to double up. Soon after we began, Laszlo's camera switched itself off. There was plenty of battery power left and the camera had no previous glitches. The cause of this remains a mystery.

As we began calling for further signs, Dom realised that responses were made by intense fluctuations in the EMF metre (where previously no EMF was registered, the analogue needle jumped up to 15 milligauss). At times, when the questions were answered, the needle would register and remain as if frozen for a period of time before falling back to zero. Progressing through the vigil we learnt that:

The responses mainly came from a female entity who was selective about the questions we asked.
The 15 milligauss range became a neutral point for responses. Affirmative answers ranged above 15 milligauss (as high as 30 milligauss) and negative responses fell bellow 15 milligauss.

The presence of a recording media (video cameras) was not welcome. Responses were mostly registered on the EMF meter when all video cameras were switched off. This was confirmed when I asked the spirit person if she was uncomfortable with the cameras. Just before I completed the sentence, my video camera switched itself off (after having over 170 minutes of battery life left). In respect of the request, all units were inactivated.

After our experiences upstairs, we made our way to the auditorium. It was around 2.00am when the replies came back through the EMF meter, asking us to leave. Luckily I was able to record most of the replies before packing up and respectfully leaving the establishment in the hands of its mysterious occupants.
