The Station

Research > 2006

Date: 26th August 2006
Time: 8.00pm - Midnight
Location: Quarantine Station - Northern Sydney

The two properties we investigated were built in the early 1900s. The main building consists of two levels. We were informed that both areas of the building have had its fair share of paranormal activity over the years.
In the upper level we decided to fix a camera (night mode) on an open Bible and the foreground while we investigated the lower level of the building.

We also set up a passive infrared motion sensor in the staircase to alert us of any movements between both levels. It is well known that staircases are active regions in haunted properties and there are only speculations as to why that is

Once we established ourselves in the darkened lower level, we began our vigil.

After the first half hour we began to detect sudden temperature variations. Darren B., who is sensitive to energy fluctuations, said that he could sense a presence of some kind in the room. It was at this point when we heard footsteps in the upper level, followed by an eerie groan that seemed to echo through the open space. We immediately jumped to our feet and rushed upstairs to investigate - there was nobody in the upper level.

We returned downstairs and continued our vigil. Things seemed to settle down for a while and it wasn't until I viewed back the footage I noticed something shoot past Darren B.
It is possible that it may have been a reflection caused by IR light from the other camera. However the second cameraman claims that his unit was not operating at the time.

It wasn't long until something occurred. Darren B.'s torch suddenly switched itself on just after he asked for a sign.

The trigger item (Bible) was not tampered with and the fixed video camera did not pick up anything of interest.

We then ventured with the rest of the crew to a dilapidated cottage, built around the same era. At the front of the cottage is a verandah. The wooden boards at the time were in no state to sustain human weight so we had to use an alternative entry.

We began our usual vigil in darkened a room. Just then Kellie was pushed over by an unseen source and she slid to the floor. At this point some of the crew members were feeling a little anxious and uneasy being there.
Then footsteps from the verandah began, slowly pacing up and down. From the gap under the door, we could see a shadow transit through the faint light infiltrating from outside. There was someone or something outside. I quickly rushed to the small window to peer outside … there was no one there. Again it would have been impossible for someone to walk across the verandah. The stress would have easily broken the rotted timber.

With his video camera Laszlo was sent near the window to document anything that was going on outside and in. Not surprising he only lasted a few minutes there.

The investigation conducted at the Quarantine Station left many questions unanswered.
In January 2009 Paranormal Investigators returned to the station to film an episode as part of the new Challenge series.
